あけましておめでとうございます!

Happy New Year!
Another year gone.. and I am 26 liao...
sighz... reaching the 'Uncle' age soon..

a quick recap of my 2009:
  • got another nephew, which I have not meet yet
  • elder sister getting married in Jan~
  • me ended up in Edinburgh... still studying..
Just bump into a Melb Uni friend here in Raffles City's Starbucks.. what are the odds..

お好み焼き (okonomiyaki or oko for short) is the new craze here in Sg?! I don't remember seeing this in August. But anyway, this moonlight okonomiyaki from Osaka Town is delicious. The fillings are prawns, squids and onion topped with sauce, bonito flakes and egg.

Omurice with cream and bacon! This is nice but still nothing can beat the one I had in La Yosh, Plaza Damas at the moment. Yummmmm...

My wishes for 2010 are
  1. be more patient to my love ones
  2. communicate more with my family since we are all around the world now
  3. avoid 小人!!!
  4. must maintain the 4 packs... 6 packs dream gone liao
  5. And world peace =)

I got owned by Sg aunty...

And there I thought that the Glaswegian's English was difficult to hear...
Today at the Sg National Library's Cafe, I was buying my usual (iced) cafe latte and the epic convo begin:

Aunty Cashier (AC): eatinginortakeaway? [all in a breath + odd accent]
Me: ??? [eyes went big and give her the 'je ne sais pas' look]

AC: eatinginortakeaway?
Me: pardon?

AC: EATINGINORTAKEAWAY??
Me: huh...OOOHHH eating IN or take AWAY? ... eating in...please..
AC: *grumbling in some Hokkien slang which probably implied "dumb effing moron"

She gave me a tulan face too...

hahaha.. thumbs up for great customer service...

花まき (hana maki). Yummmmmm...
鰻かばやき (unagi kabayaki)、eggplant and tofu with miso sauce... yummmm
ぎょざ (gyoza). This is definitely one of my favorite gyoza in Malaysia..
えびテンプラ (ebi tempura)。And lastly, my craving for ebi tempura is finally fulfilled!! I love Kikuzakura in MV. The 老伴娘 is so friendly~

The National Library here has a very nice view =)

SAMMI IS BACK!!!

Cant wait to go get her album '.
It is been a while since I last bought a hk singer cd, because the song quality has been rubbish since 2007..
I like her 罪與罰
The lyric is so meaningful.
提防小人

This year my life is filled with 小人。

This is marinated pork steak burger from the Edinburgh German Market... extremely delicious..yum

This fried potato with bacon & onion is called bratkartoffeln. Surprisingly delicious... but expensive too...
German version of profiterole? I can't remember the name...sweet delight!

メリイ クリスマス 2009 !!!

Last Friday, Nick & I organized a Christmas party at our apartment. The theme was red, green or gold! So the food must contains one of those colors!!

えびそば (Ebi Soba) as the appertizer. Simple dish. I used the classic taste in a modern attempt.
I had limited wine glasses, hence I have to redo this a few times.
Honey mustard baked salmon is a dish that I have mastered for a while now. =) Secret recipe.

Sesame honey chicken wings and mini drum made by Ben & Chee Mei. They put the gold and red bell pepper to fit into the color theme. =) Very nice especially with the sesame seeds.

Chicken rendang by Ken Lee. I must say, KL has leveled up a lot!!! Nicely done!

Roast turkey with bacon toppings!! Lester is very brave for bringing the bird as it was his 1st time cooking it and it tasted like a pro turkey chef!!! Very very nice!!

Roast pork by Kah Yee. Like what Nick loves to say 好鲜甜~ =) nicely made!
Baked cheese and potato by Prasad. A lot of carbs & cheese. But since it's Christmas, I made exception~

Tomato rice by Amrita and Maevis. It is an Indian recipe which its' distinct taste!! I couldn't get the picture of the cookies.. as it was gone like hotcakes!!!
Pasta salad with fruits and salmon by Deme. Zomgness... Deme is definitely on my potluck invitee list at all time now!! Just too bad that she can't join us in the sinful delight~

Baked spinach by Marc C. The golden brown crust with green parsley on top and a rich spinach inside. Well done, Marc C.

The table is filled with food. Well done peeps.

To end the meal, we had

Wild berry (strawberry, blueberry and raspberry) smoothie by Nicholas. I can only say two words : Restaurant Quality!!!!

Scrumptious meal and great crowd. Fab way to send off 2009~ Thanks peep.
メリイ クリスマス!!

For my own good?! 私自身のため?

"I am doing this for your own!!"
“我是为你好”
"これはあなた自身のためです"

I remember asking a friend about this before.. and she gave me a quite obvious but yet profound answer
"Family always want the best for you, while friends always want you to be happy"

Hence, the best for me is sometimes not a happy one..

I used to think that it is much easier for the person saying it than the person hearing it.
But I realized that understanding it is the hardest part.

要说就说了,要做就做了。。。
我可以做得是等。

All that I can do now is pray that someone can understand this soon...

Zomgnessss... this is Giant Scallop fettuccine from La p'tite folie at Frederick St.
The taste is orgasmic. True to French cuisine.. as the portion is VERY small!
quote Nick: "Go back must cook indomee!!"

I also had seafood bisque as starter.. yummmmm

To end the meal, I had crème brûlée. mon Dieu...
This is one big heck of a crème brûlée....

MAN U 4EVA!!! =)

Last week, we (Marc, Nick & I) went down to Manchester to visit 华姐!!
We stayed at her hotel apartment, which reminds me of my old apartment, Uropa in Melbourne (those were the days)
I was never a Man U fan before this... but after a visit to Old Trafford, my view on soccer has changed a lot. 真是另眼相看。
The stadium was very nice and grand. I can feel the grandeur of the game itself.
Hiro is a big fan now too!! =) (Special thanks to 华姐 this time!!)

And it's priceless to see how 'macho' Marcus become this little kid on a Christmas morning!!!

The food in Manchester is nice but kinda oily!
华姐 is like a Chinatown Big Sister.... she knows a lot of people... except that very rude SGL at the dim sum place...
The Christmas market was hhuuuuggggeeeeee... such a nice feel there. This market is wayyy bigger than the one here in Edinburgh =(
The lighting deco is soooo prettttyyy...
This is my birthday gift from Marc, Nick and 华姐! It is a very nice scarf! Thanks peeps!

曼徹斯特 is definitely worth going! Very different feel from London.

And finally I had my egg tarts! 并非浪得虚名!Very nice =)
