angmouHolic..

Last week was Princess N's birthday and after dinner, we went to have some drinks in Hard Rock.
At 1st, HRH (Her Royal Highness) did not want to drink alcohol because it will irritate his throat and blah blah ... ~meow~
And then after a few of us drank a few shots, he joined in.

All I can say is... alcohol virgin is always most dangerous kind...

Well, it was around 12.15am. We wanted to order some more but Roxanne (the albino skin+blonde hair barmaid) told us that they are closed. In fact, they were not. She was still selling alcohol to this angmou couple whom just walked in 5 min after my order request.
I am not usually the sensitive kind that like to throw the racist card all the time but her actions gave me no other explanation.
For one, she was not the friendliest barmaid there and she only smiles to the angmous.

I know I should not take one bamboo, kill the whole boat of people (一竹篙打死一船人)but the incidents have been accumulating.

I was not angry or anything but it just strengthen my belief of going back to Asia. And for some reason, the only movie that came to my mind was the Bruce Lee during the scene where he smashed the signboard which said "No dogs and Chinese allowed".

Then I was talking to a few friends and saying why do angmou 'look down' upon Asians in their country but when angmou goes to Asia, they are being worshipped?

"The feeling of western supremacy"

"Asians have better customer service!"

"angmouholic?"

Duck confit burger from Hand burger in Singapore. It is very nice. But for the side dish, I advised to go for the fries and not the weird tomato with injected coleslaw in it!

Fresh as a daisy!

After finishing my exam, I fell sick and caught a diarrhea bug.
But now I am all better!
I would like to thank all those nice and warm supports, especially to my good friends for diagnosing me with colorectal cancer... =)
and to those whom wished they had diarrhea.. (I dunno why) but be careful for what you wish for.
.
.
.
oh and loperamide is a wonder drug. 2 pills = no more diarrhea for me.

The irony was that I just started my GI rotation..

I miss my 小龙包....

Taxidrivers. (Malaysian ones)

I have a confession.

I hate taxi drivers. I hate them when I am driving because they drive like a mad fool and they stop whenever and wherever they like and always cause major congestion at Bangsar from MV direction.

I hate taxi drivers when they decide to cut my throat and charged me RM50 from Subang Jaya to Damansara Heights. Sadly for them, I would never pay that much. I haggled till RM35 (which is still expensive but no choice…urgh.)

I hate taxi drivers when they wind down their window and ask you:

“pergi mana?”

“Damansara Heights.”

“oh tak boleh. Tak boleh.”

*Drives off*

BUT today.. on my trip to MV from house, this chinese taxidriver (Fahrer) probably is my most interesting taxi trip ever.

Conversation after loading up my luggage into the taxi:

Fahrer: "eh.. such a big house.. why move to Garden Hotel?"

Me: "oh i m going there to meet friends and then to airport."

Fahrer: "oh where u going?"

Me: "going to uk"

Fahrer: "to work?"

Me: "study"

Fahrer :"ohhhh... I was in Germany for 10 yrs ...around 20 yrs ago.. (speaking to me in German..."Nein?")

*long intro of how he work there and was earning 3K USD a month*

.

.

.

oh.. u know the girls there very 'open' one... there is this beach.. thy all take off everything. If you dont take off, the guard will ask you to leave!!

Wahh those breast sooooo big... and their hai mo all sort of colors.. got golden color somemore... n their lin tou all red and pinkish... I was young then so cant control ... easily lan ngan.. so had to face down on the beach.."

[at this point, I can tell that Fahrer was happily reminiscing his younger and wilder days. The funny thing was he did not sound like some pervert uncle. He was just sharing to me his experience!! He even told me that the women there lou dou bei bei sang (non-stop flow) until he can take some back as souvenir.]

"I been around Europe too. OH Italy's prostitute.. those high 'Car' ones drive Ferrari and they charged 1K USD!!! I cant afford them so I see see only."

Then he started talking about his Thailand trip.

Me: "Oh it must be cheap shopping in Thailand"

Fahrer: "The only two things that are cheap in Thailand is women and beer!!" *another long story of women*

.

.

.

He was telling me that he wants to buy a farm to animals. He was searching for a good land for last 18 months.

In this short 20mins, I realized that Fahrer has been around the world: US, Aus, UK, Japan.. etc and surprisingly, he is just a taxi driver now.

I really salute him because how many people of his age (and I am assuming that he may not have much higher education back in the days) have been around the world, see foreign things and 'conquer' various women?

Veni vidi vici

He certainly enjoyed his life and lived it to the fullest. Quite an interesting character.

p/s - Yes, I had to give some 'straight' remarks about his rendezvous.

My favourite, inari kani mayo yaki (they have this in the menu now.. no more hard description) from Sushi Zanmai. yummmm...

But I find the Sushi Zen on LG of Garden has better À la carte than Zanmai. Maybe it has less crowd so more effort in preparing the meal.

Brisbane VS Melbourne

After arriving here in Brisbane, I can’t help but wonder what will my life be if I handed in my UQ application back in IMU. I was told that if I did that, I was guaranteed a place here since I already have a prior degree from University of Melbourne.
So here I was at the Brisbane man-made beach, thinking if I would like it here. But the funny thing was that I was not comparing Edinburgh with Brisbane, but it was between Melbourne and Brisbane!?!

I was telling my younger sister that maybe its ‘bias’ but I prefer Melbourne waaaaayyyyy more than Brisbane. Although the hottie counts in Brisbane is definitely better than Melbourne (it’s most likely due to the hot weather, sleeveless or topless, tanned skin.. I am not complaining!).
I feel that Melbourne was a better city because of the tram systems and the better-situated Chinatown.

But the best part of this trip was not the Brisbane city. But it was at Sunshine Coast. My sister booked us the entire posh bed & breakfast house, which was catered by a Japanese couple from Sapporo. How irony is that… but I must say, the hospitality is definitely… Japanese…

Miyuki was such a gem. She is 61 but she does not looked like it. Very energetic and cheerful.
Aki is a French and Japanese chef back in his days. The dinner and breakfast he made for us were remarkable.

The view of the valley was breathtaking. I really enjoyed the two nights stay here. Quiet and blissful with a nice cup of tea while watching Akira Kurosawa (classic-nya)! The stars at night were crazy… reminded me of Phillip Island in Victoria. (don’t understand why Pokok is complaining)

The whale looking cloud!!!

And for the 1st time, I saw kookaburra right in front of me. Made a short kookaburra documentary too.
Simple starter.. so french...yummm.. eating this while looking at such a nice scenery~
Pan seared salmon.
This chicken is not a simple deep fried chicken. It has 3 taste: garlic, mushroom cream and cheese!

Ice-cream for dessert. My sister was disappointed to find out that it was not home made. tsk tsk.

Then at Coolum Beach, I was like a fat kid on free-for-all chocolate shop (Yes, I am referring to YOU!! You know who you are!). First thing I did was run to the beach and planted my towel and cooked myself under the skin-cancerous beam!

Then my brother and I walked along the beach and we noticed a lot of blue-colored blob thingy been washed up to the shore. I told him that I think it’s a jellyfish.

I found out later that it was bluebottle jellyfish and one of them stung my sole. It was just a brief sharp pain. Ouch..

Around 4pm, my sister was officially and legally married to Manu. She was so pretty. I got a bit emo and cried. Well, she started it.

Then at the wedding dinner, the ‘inevitable’ question sprung at me again! (happened 3 years ago)

“So, when is YOUR turn???”
"ha ha ha …"
“Well, make it legal! Damnit!”

Money money money~

The 1st post of the year.
26…. It is only going to get bigger and bigger…
Still studying and has no working experience whatsoever.

I was talking with a friend few days back on how long this medical course is taking… can’t I just skipped all this.. and start giving morphine for pain and gentamycin for infections?! Well… obviously not!
Well I guess my favorite phrase of ‘It’s all part of the learning curve’ is chewing on my ass now..

For some reason, I had the urge of coming out to work and have the power of income earning. I remembered the day I graduated from Melbourne Uni, my mum told me this “don’t have to work yet, still young.. go study somemore 1st. Not as if the family needs u to feed”
I must admit that financial security has always been stable and kind to me. But the talk that I had with the bois in Kikuzakura got me thinking about a lot of socio-economic issues such as marriage, buying a house and career road maps.

It all started because D mentioned his plans of buying a house, settling down and his career road map. Then the rest of us just chipped in suggestions and point of views… some were good while some were “unrealistic”. Unrealistic in the way of each of us were coming from different work background and had very different views on life.

Businessman

Hermit + computer engineer

Clubbing mania + soft programmer (sorry might be wrong classification for u, Miyaki! lol)

Computer software… service provider?! (D, I really don’t know what you do..)

And then, there is me… the student4life club’s president.

But we all did come to a consensus that buying house (landed property or apartment) cannot happen concurrently with marriage, given our financial status (Not sure about the businessman, maybe he is being humble!! Kekeke)

This issue probably hit home more to me as both of my elder siblings are married/getting married and had plan of starting their own family. And even for them, the starting point was not easy. And to make matter worse, both of them and their spouses are doctors, worked at least 4 years before jumping into the marriage wagon!
.
.
.
I stopped and pondered…pondered… & pondered.
What are my chances now … Great

For some reason, I used to say that I want to get marry when I am 28 and have my 1st born when 30. Like how my younger sis kept saying how I ‘hang gar’.
I guess for my case, it is kinda different… since not many places offer same sex marriage or civil partnership…
Oh well but that’s a different story all together now..

So the point is that before this, my perception of ‘getting married and buying a house’ was as easy as pie… but now.. reality kicks in…
My dream house and dream wedding will have to wait..
But the best thing is…

I don’t have to search him anymore =)

This is Moreton Bug with tiger prawn in a cafe in Brisbane. It has a different taste from prawn and lobster. The texture is tangy and succulent and it goes so well with garlic sauce. Yuuuummm!!
