Last month, Ada came over to Edinburgh to stay for one month elective.

It was fun to have a '3rd housemate'. It was something that I always wanted to experience that before I graduated.

She cooks (following my instructions), cleans and irons my clothes!!!!
What more can I ask for =)
Although she did used a lot of tissue papers... and her hair was everywhere.....
hahaha joking Ada...

The moments that I will miss is definitely the breakfast. The simple and short 15mins in the morning before I drove to Dumfernline (45mins away) was definitely a good way to start my day!
and also CALIIFOORRNNIIAAAA to Ada~

Well, Chui Munn's mystical dream dish was good too and yes, I think I do miss her constant
chanting of my full name in the house...

And I am eternally grateful for the crash course of Obs that Ada and Chui Munn bombarded me
the night before my mock osce. Definitely an ego and knowledge booster after that.

So Sam, please come prepared ok? I have my psychiatry exams 2 weeks after you arrived and I will demand either curry laksa or wantan mee and even a baby from you. =)

Ang Chui Munn's famous borvil vegetable soup. Easy to make and no meat!

Ada's famous carbonara =) very nice.

Finally, Ada's family secret nasi lemak with sambal prawn. I shed a tear in my heart.

Gay-friendly restaurants?

Gay-friendly restaurants.. I was just chatting with James on this issue.

What does it mean?
Is it gay-friendly because:-
a) opened by a gay man
b) hired a lot of cute/hot gay staffs
c) Cosmo is the only drink they serve
d) a place whereby gay people can just be themselves
and enjoy their meal without the fear of being spat on!
e) a venue for gay right activists.
f) all of the above

I guess it really is all of the above.
I miss hanging out with my gay friends back home. Somehow, I am more
comfortable with the gay scene back home. =(

Maybe that's why I decided to learn how to make Cosmo at home!! (1st step to opening my own gay-friendly restaurant!)

Malpractice 101

The recent few weeks, I have witnessed and learned quite a few things about medicine... that I should not learn from..

let's start with nurse in the GUM (genito-urinary medicine) clinic.

I was in the clinic, sitting in with the doctor and saw quite a few ladies with STDs.

The sight of a healthy Vjayjay was already disturbing and let alone one with warts or dark brown discharge. After a few patients, the clinical waste bin (this is where all the swabs, gloves & tissues with bodily fluid stains go) was full. The nurse went to change it.

On the top of the clinical bin, there is a label there saying 'don't touch with hand, please wear gloves'.
However, been in the business for so long, the nurse probably developed a strong immunity to bacteria vaginosis and friends. She did not wear any gloves and took out the bag with her bare hands. Then she reached over to open a new bag. After a few tries of opening the bag, she then licked her fingers to open the bag.

Once I saw that, my face was cringing in pain and I think I let out a soft 'URGH?!'

Moral of this story : Nurse is probably the dirtiest person in the hospital.

Cha siew ramen from Marutama, Singapore. This is probably the best ramen I tried outside of Japan to date. The tamago is exactly the same as the one you find in a ramen soup in Japan, hard exterior while it's soft and 'flowy' inside. Yum!

Singapore flooded.

Two days ago, Singapore's Orchard Road was flooded badly.

And yes, it was bad.

I shed a tear for the Birkin.

得閑飲茶 (duk han yumcha)

I am sure that everyone has done this before.

Lets say you bump into some old friend and after some small talk, you end it with this polite phrase:
"得閑飲茶."
(Let's do drinks sometimes)
But how often do we end up drinking with that old friend?

Recently, I have been enjoying the comfort of this phrase since I came back to Malaysia for my summer break. Since high school, I have always been the one whom organized house party, group gathering etc. But lately, I am not so much in the mood to entertain.

Yes, there are important friends that I do want to meet and I make sure it's not a '得閑飲茶' session but more like a ‘喂，星期六飲茶咯’。

I used to be more of a control freak whereby I have to confirm drinks, lunch and dinner plans with friends like a million times.
Now if people don't contact me, I will just treat it as a 得閑飲茶..
No fuss, less trouble.

The Chicken Rendang from Madam Kwan (MK). Yes.. I know... why would anyone want to eat there..
Well 5 years ago, it would almost seems like a money sink to go into MK. But nowadays comparing with other eatery such as Delicious, Alexis etc, MK is not THAT expensive and it taste pretty good too.

But nowhere in Nirvana will I pay RM 20 for some 芙蓉蛋!

End of Year 3.

The last time I said something like "wah...imu went by so fast.."
Sam gave me her face and say "where got fast.. U wanna do it again??"

But this time I really think that year 3 Edinburgh Uni was kinda fast and somehow it seems to me that it's not the £££!
