Gastro-orchestra

I don't know if it's because of the cold weather here or the asian students are not eating enough but in today's lecture, I heard sooo many stomach growls before lunch and AFTER lunch. It's astonishing...

Later in the evening, I went to the Japanese Society at 8pm, which had its 'society gathering' in a local pub. I was crossing my fingers and thinking 'oh..this is probably a one off thing, whereby the "welcoming party" is in the pub'. Hence being a true Japanese, I was at the pub at 745pm... And not wanting to be a weirdo there, I went to a nearby cafe and had coffee instead (oh i just finished gym, didn't shower & haven't had dinner yet). Around 8.04 I walked over and found a group of Japanese in a corner of the pub, drinking Guinness....

Still refusing to be skeptical, I tried talking to the people there. A few Japs had very good English, the rest was too involved within their own convo. In the end, I talked most of my 1hr there to 2 angmou guys (which is very ironic! 0_o)!!!!

And I found that, they usually do 'this' every week and they sort of chill out, drink and mingle amongst themselves till 1am!!! Rather disappointing for a 'Japanese culture' society...

Although I really hate lame ass icebreaking games, but sitting quietly made me missed the good'ole shoukai (introduction). I won't mind even a goukon!! Even the president was reluctant to do an official welcome...

So after an hour, I left.. and I was thinking, was my Japanese so bad till I can't communicate with them or am I just introverted now?

This is because even in the medical school, I find it rather odd and difficult for me to strike a conversation with the other Malaysians. The strange thing is that I can start conversation easier with the angmous now. And in general, people here are kinda laid back and less interesting. Whoopie...

And the wind was freaking strong...

Me doing a jumping Buddha (special thanks to Ian for teaching me this pose!!)

Skype!!!

Skype is like the world's most wonderful thing ever made for LDR!! So now people like me, dont have to sing tat stupid "Delilah" song!!

Its pretty late now, 2am..

I am going to sleep soon. Was watching a movie called "Permanent Resident" just now.

The main actor is cute but that's not the point here.
I had a lot of flashback of my personal experiences from that movie. Experiences that till this day, I never really got the truth from.

Then I began to wonder, why is that gay men are so eager to watch gay themed movies? Even knowing that most of these movies have melancholy plots and sad endings!!!
I cant remember how many gay themed movies I have watch till now.

But while I was at the gym this morning, I suddenly remembered my 1st gay themed movie... it was Bishonen (http://www.lovehkfilm.com/reviews_2/bishonen.htm).. I remembered how my sister bought it last time when we were in HK and smuggled it back home.. hahaha that was funny. I guess for me, that movie gave a lot of insight on the complications of a gay man's life (and man, Daniel Wu is freaking hot!!). Every time I watched it, I always hoped that the ending would change...

I guess for me, I kept watching gay themed movies because I am not satisfied with the endings.... and I wont stop till I find one with the perfect ending. =)

So Directors, Bring It on!!!

p/s -ya was a bit emo at this post

Ok since I am going to be here for the next 3 years, I figured that it would be important to learn some Scottish slang. So here I go:

bairn[s] (barren[s]) = kid[s]
simmit (summit) = vest
loon = boy
mawkit = filthy
eejit = idiot
Eh I ken = Yes, I know

try to pronounce this sign... =)

OMGawd I must have been very famous now~

Yes... Omgawd indeed.

I must have been very famous now.

I think I got myself a stalker. Few days before I left for Edinburgh, I received 2 letters which was unsealed and in the front, 'Gay printed letter' was typed there.

And inside of these letters were a 'postcard' cut out of some magazine with very detail pictures of the male physique! At the back of the postcard 'Thank you for patrol our club. Be a happy gay' in bold.. there was no correspondent name or address.

Whoever this person is, he has very bad vocab and very dumb. With no name of the club correspondent and bad vocab, that made it into such an amateurish prank..

I was thinking there is no way I put my KL address online.. hence, either someone is playing a prank on me.. or I have some crazy stalker up my tuss... =(

So I called a hotline 101-i-got-a-stalker-too-but-i-am-not-paris-hilton and I am still on hold.

(True story)

edinburgh day 8!!!!

Hello people!

Greetings from the Edinburrah~

De weatheRr iz fanzastik!!!

ok maybe not tat bad with the Edin accent but I really pity the people in Glasgow.
The Glaswegian speaks in a very different tongue!!

Anyway, suck to be offline for so long.. and my house still no internet yet because the working ethic of the Scots is 1 customer/day policy. So my internet MAY be ready by 12am later (quoted from the customer service guy)!

So here I am, being a library furniture..surfing the net and probably will read up on my CVS clinical skills later.

Today's weather is a bit chilly but 2 days ago it was brilliant!

And I just activated my iphone 3g s!!!! its beautiful... although i kinda screwed up the screen protectors... (2 already!!! its freaking hard to put them on!)

Things are freaking expensive here... And I think they just turn off the heater (bugger!)...

Let me update on the rest of IMU folks here:

Nick has been a gem since I got here which I am very grateful for~ And we dont have the robot vacuum anymore because the flat is not carpet.

Marcus just moved into his student hostel. Was a bit bumpy for him but I think the prozac is kicking in!!

Ziyan AKA Ziang, Aminah 's parents just left today. Haven cried.....yet..

Chris is still around. Got to know him a bit more. Kinda quiet.

Lester from M206 has been hanging out with us a lot because he was the onli M2 here and also the earliest!

Jane (quoted from unnamed birdies!) "OMG! Is that Sharon's SISTER?!!!!"

Ken just arrived last night and lost most of his luggage in Heathrow...

Lenster and Sanjeet are walking around town happily together!

We met up with IMU seniors few days back. They were all very nice and accommodating. Very nice experiences~ (unlike Manchester)

Rented a car for the weekend and drove to Glasgow and Livingston. (Omgosh... the library is freezing now....buggered..) but the view here is nice... very conducive to study...

Ok time to go home and cook dinner.. too cold here =(

chapter 3

Unlike many, I was very fortunate to have 3 chapters of uni life.

Chapter 1 was in Melb Uni.
Chapter 2 was in IMU.

And Chapter 3 is going to be University of Edinburgh in a week time.

It has been 3 months since I finished my final exams in IMU and I have been procrastinating for long enough.

Perhaps part of me that doesn't want to leave Malaysia is the source of all that. And I know why...

Today, I had an epiphany when I was in the That CD Shop, while I was listening to Escala.I flashed back to the time I first reached Melbourne in 2001 and the sort of music that I listened to back then. It was mainly the 'la-la' genre.. like Kelly Chen's Flower Universe etc.. I was just 17 then.. and man, was I la-la... dye-hair...weird color pants...sling bag... the mere thought of that makes me shiver...lol..I always tell my friends now that if they had known me back then, I doubt they will befriend me.. I was so reckless, immature, bratty, absolutely unrefined. Back then it took me a while to do a lot of soul searching. Some of it was ''what do I want to do with my life?'' which is an irony as my younger brother is going through that too now. I was also searching for my real self back then too....

Then 1/2 way through my Melbourne life, my music genre transpired to a cuter genre...anime theme song... and one of the still all time favorite is.. Chobits 'let me be with you' haha... It was definitely a turning point in my life, as I realized that I actually want to do medicine and I am comfortable with myself. Well, getting a 2nd class upper wasnt really my plan as 1st class upper for honors was my goal for a transfer to medicine in Melb Uni. Hence, I packed my bags and returned home.

I took a year off and my music genre was more j-rock and j-pop. I used to hate Gackt as his make-up was creepy. But out of the blue, I heard his songs on youtube and I quickly became a fan. I also realized myself to change, both physical and mental wise. I lost 10++ kg and took better care of my face. After a while of holidaying, I told mum that I want to study again.. so i applied for a few uni, HK Uni for Medicine and Chinese Medicine and IMU (somehow I knew I was going to get this). HK Uni replied and asked me for an interview for CMed.. which I so totally lied on the application for being 'fluent in Putonghua' so to save myself from humiliation.. i rejected it and ended up in IMU, chapter 2.

In Chapter 2, I was more of a classical music person. That's when I went to MPO for the 1st time and Nodame rocked my world. IMU was definitely nerve wreaking on the 1st week. Being a mature student, I felt the generation gap and the immaturity of the so-called 'seniors' was appalling and thought of withdrawing was contemplated. But, I chose to stay on and won that IMCC thingy and became the president for the next orientation. In my mind then, I knew that to elicit change, I must be on the top of the food chain and so I did. I enjoyed my IMU days after I realized that absolute power was what I need?!!! Khahahhaa (ok...maybe not). I enjoyed my IMU days after I found my rocks, which I am so thankful of. =).

And now Chapter 3... what sort of music genre would I appreciate now? Edinburgh...Scotland... bagpipes?.. celtic music?! maybe...not sure...
but as I am writing this blog now, I am so happy to finally put the name to this music which I have been dying to find out.. Robert Miles - Children

So my point is that.. for me, music has always been there for me when I was struggling to accept my homosexuality... when I had my family problems...when I nearly failed my anatomy 101... and when I met James.. and u know how people say that a picture says a thousand words..

but for me, music shares a thousand memories
